You're invited to a Vine Street block party
Greenhorn owner Jonah Agner remembers dancing in the streets in downtown Bluffton, decades ago. With the short one-way stretch of Vine Street immediately next to his restaurant's patio service at 112 Vine, he decided to throw a block party for local families and university students on Saturday, August 20.
- 4:00 p.m. - Games and activities
- 7:00 p.m. - DJ Jon Humphrey
- 9:00 p.m. - DJ Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale
There will be a variety of activities including artists and other vendors; free face painting and glitter tattoos; tarot readers and outdoor games.
A special attraction provided by multiple sponsors is a dunking booth to benefit Bluffton first responders. Brett Eikenbary will serve as emcee at the dunk tank, introducing the "dunkees" (listed below) and encouraging "dunkers" to test their aim and arm strength. Sponsors are Eikenbary Landscape Co., Sielschott, Walsh, Kiefer, Regular & Sherer, Inc., Citizens National Bank and Lisa Wenger-CCR Realtors.
Agner did a "dancing in the streets" test run on August 6 with Humphrey. For Saturday's event, guests will also be treated to a set by the "Godmother of House Music," Stacey "Hotwaxx" Hale. Based in Detroit, Hale has performed across the United States, and in major cities including Toronto, London and Berlin. Her biography is HERE.
Greenhorn will be serving late night food and craft mocktails and cocktails. The ability to sell and serve alcoholic beverages on Vine Street is relatively new. It was made possible by Ohio House Bill 669. Agner says that this is a prototype event and chance to consider future opportunities.
You can also explore Greenhorn at Wednesday night wine tastings; Thursday, Friday and Saturday lunch and dinner; and Sunday brunch. Greenhorn menus are listed HERE on the Icon and at https://www.facebook.com/GreenhornBluffton
August 20 Block Party "Dunkees": Bryan Lloyd, Jesse Blackburn, Ryan Burkholder, Clint Dailey, Ray Ruggley.
