About the Stan Sterner Big Band

Based in Findlay, The Stan Sterner Orchestra has been entertaining since 1980. This is a 15-piece band made up of professional musicians from throughout the northwest Ohio region.

The band has performed throughout Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Sterner died in 1996, but the band is continuing under the direction of David Sycks of Bluffton and Shannon Ford, lead trumpet and lead alto, respectively.

The 15 pieces include five saxes, three trombones, three trumpets, piano, bass, drums and female vocalist. The music played is strictly the classic big band repertoire of the late '30s and '40s, and now with some more contemporary hits as well.
