J.P. Schumacher has organized a new series of courses to give individuals who would like to continue learning past the traditional student age. Continued Learning Elder Organization (C.L.E.O.) will provide four weekly courses beginning Monday, September 11 at First Mennonite Church, 101 S. Jackson.
Registration is required. To register online go to www.fmcbluffton.org/ Registration forms can also be found at First Mennonite, Et Cetera Shop, Book Reviews and Twisted Whisk or call JP Schumacher at 567-712-1891.
Conversations with Fred Steiner, 10:15-11:30 a.m.
Steiner’s sessions will include:
CONTINUES
- If Bluffton is a Swiss community, where are the mountains?
- How your grandparents traveled to Lima, Findlay, Toledo, and points beyond. (Railroad and Interurban travel)
- Four guys walk into a Bluffton bank and the rest of Bluffton oral history (John Dillinger bank robbery).
- Where Bluffton’s ghosts sleep (Based upon Fred’s upcoming ghost story book).
Inspired writing with Ruth Naylor, 1:00-2:15 p.m.
Naylor’s goal in these four weeks together is to inspire you to do some of the writing –serious and/or humorous-- that you’ve previously just thought about doing. She will offer a variety of prompts to help you turn memories and insights into prose or poetry.
You’ll be invited but not required to share with our group what you write; however, both now and in the future, you and your loved ones will undoubtedly value what you have captured and saved about significant life experiences, relationships, and implicit values.
Bring writing materials –a notebook, pen, pencil, or laptop.
