Pirates 2nd at NWC meet; Stackhouse wins 2 sprints

BLUFFTON __The Pirate boys and girls track and field teams each finished a strong second at the annual Northwest Conference championship meet in Bluffton’s Salzman Stadium Saturday, May 11.
Columbus Grove won the girls team title with 173.5 points. Bluffton took second with 127 points, followed by Spencerville in third.
Grove captured the boys team crown with 162 points, followed by Bluffton (123) and Lincolnview (102).
Thursday’s first day of action was canceled due to rain.
Griffin Stackhouse sped to first in the 100 and 200-meter dash races to pace the Pirate boys.
Gavin Bogart also won the boys 400-meter run.
The Pirate boys also crossed the finish line first in the 4x100 and 4x200 relay races.
Sadie Tarplee won the high jump, and Rory Youngpeter took first in the discus to post the top Pirate girls finishes.
