Pirate boys soccer edged late by Ottawa Hills

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School boys soccer team lost 2-1 to visiting perennial power Ottawa Hills at Steinmetz Field Thursday night, October 3.
The loss snapped a six-match Pirate win streak. OH scored twice in the final 20 minutes to rally for the win.
The Pirate record dropped to 8-7 overall after the tough loss. Ottawa Hills improved to 10-3-1 with the win.
The defensive battle was scoreless at halftime.
Pirate ace Levi Antrim scored seven minutes into the second half off an Ollie Combs assist to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Green Bear Alex Duran scored in the 61st minute to equalize the match at 1-1.
Teammate Archie Talbots then netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 65th minute.
Bluffton directed three of their six shots at OH keeper Burke Pfeiffer. The Bears managed to get off 10 shots, four of which were on goal.
Pirate keeper Emmitt Kidd made two saves in goal. Pfeiffer also was credited with two stops.
The Pirates junior varsity tied OH, 2-2. Wes Johnstone and Xavier Navarro scored the goals for the Bluffton reserves.
The Pirates host WBL foe Celina (8-4-1) Monday, Oct. 7.
