Veteran Pirate duo runs at CC regionals

TIFFIN - Two Bluffton seniors competed in the 22-team Div. III regional cross country meet Saturday, Octobe 26, at Tiffin’s Hedges-Boyer Park.
Pirate senior Levi Fenzl finished a solid 38th place in the 177-runner boys race. His time over the 3.1-mile course was 16:56.67.
Pirate senior June Essinger crossed the finish line in 101st place amid a massive field of 182 runners in the girls race. Her five-kilometer time was 21:46.86.
Regional winners
Columbus Grove edged Northwest Conference rival Convoy Crestview 147-152 to capture the boys regional team crown. Ottawa Hills finished in a close third (154).
Defiance Tinora senior Paul Westrick won the boys regional individual race in 15:38.88.
Patrick Henry junior Mia Amador won the girls regional race in 18:32.67.
Minster won the girls regional team title with 98 points. Ashland Crestview came in second (121). Huron came in third with 136 points.
Only the top seven teams and top 28 individuals at the Tiffin Div. III regionals qualified for the state meet.
The state meet is at Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park Saturday, November 2 south of Columbus. The boys Div. III race starts at 10 a.m., followed by the girls Div. III meet at 10:45 a.m.
