Vanis C. Scalf, 65, passed away December 20, 2024, at Lima Memorial Health System. Vanis was born May 8, 1959 in Virginia to the late Ernest and Virgie (Eldridge) Scalf.  

Vanis was a graduate of Wayne Trace High School. He retired from Holtgreven Scale in Findlay where he had been a service manager. Vanis enjoyed nature, reading the newspaper, collecting old radios and tinkering.

Survivors include three children, Sarah Clark of Xenia, Luca Scalf of Cleveland, Jacob (Taylor D'Abrosia) Scalf of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Oliver Dumont, Jazzlynn Dumont, Judah Clark, Elijah Clark; six sisters,  Laurene Scalf of Louisville, Kentucky, Linda (Denny) Flannery of Dryden, Virginia, Janie Boyer of Columbus, Ohio, Shawn (Delbert) Paige of Norton, Virginia, Sharon Smith of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Lori (Kevin) Deaton of Greenville, Ohio and his previous wife, Cinderella Scalf of Findlay.

Vanis was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Curt Scalf, Ernie "Ray" Scalf and Glenn Scalf.

Vanis' services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton.  Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey.  Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
