Obituary for Marjorie Janice Thomas
Marjorie Janice Thomas (née Johns), 97, of Lima, Ohio, died on Sunday, December 29, after a brief stay at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Born on August 20, 1927, in Lima, Ohio, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarice and Richard Johns of Lima, Ohio; her husband of 40 years, Roger Lee Thomas (d. 2003); and her daughter, Carol Ann (Dave) Siverling (d. 2013).
Marjorie was the mother of seven children, six of whom survive her: Rick (Anita) Irwin, Lynda Irwin-Springer, Dale (Becky) Irwin, Darrel (Barb) Irwin, Dana (Polly) Irwin, and David (Stacy) Irwin. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Marjorie's first marriage was to Lewis Kemmer Irwin (d. 2009) from 1945 to 1958. Her sister, Elaine (Tom) Sampley, also survives her.
Marjorie (Marg) was an active member of the Lima Community Church and worked as a volunteer with the Lima Auxiliary for 40 years. She was active throughout her days and enjoyed getting together with lifelong friends to play canasta and share memories.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
