Allen County, Ohio residents, policymakers and community organizations now have access to a comprehensive set of health data tools, including the latest County Health Rankings released March 19, as well as a newly released 2024 Community Health Assessment and Allen County Health Atlas. These resources aim to empower communities with valuable insights into health trends and disparities, guiding informed decision-making and targeted interventions.
County Health Rankings, published annually by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, provides a detailed look at the factors influencing health outcomes. New this year is an updated model of health that focuses on how power and rules – like laws, budgets, culture and worldviews – shape community conditions and health. MORE ▶︎
Complementing the rankings, the 2024 Community Health Assessment delivers an in-depth analysis of local health needs, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Informed by input from community partners and over 660 residents, this assessment serves as a resource for strategic health planning and policy development in our community.
Additionally, the Allen County Health Atlas, available through the Activate Allen County Collaborative, will be updated this spring to include new datasets. The user-friendly platform provides interactive tools, reports and visual data displays by county, zip code or census tract, making it easier for individuals and organizations to explore and utilize health information effectively.
“These tools offer an essential foundation for improving public health in our county,” said Brandon Fischer, Health Commissioner at Allen County Public Health. “By leveraging data-driven insights, we can better address community needs and implement initiatives that promote long-term well-being.”
