Robert "Bob" O. Town served in the U.S. Navy
Robert "Bob" O. Town, 92, passed away April 3, 2025 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Bob was born November 18, 1932 in Argos, Indiana to the late Orval and Gwendolyn (Ransbottom) Town. On October 18, 1951 he married Dorothy Fisher Town who preceded him in death on May 22, 2015.
Bob graduated from Argos High School in Argos, Indiana. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. At the age of 54 Bob retired from AT & T where he was an executive. He attended Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Bob was a member of the Bluffton Masonic Lodge and the Bluffton American Legion Post #382. He was an avid golfer and loved wintering in Ft. Myers, Florida with his wife, Dorothy.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura M. (Patrick James) Lenhard of Tennessee, Rhonda L. (Chris) Wenger of Bluffton, Robin J. (Paul) Miller of Bluffton; four grandchildren, David (Melissa) Miller, Benjamin (Jenny) Wenger, Jessica (Lane) Oberly, Emily (Trent) Phillips; eight great-grandchildren, Tradd Miller, Grayson, Scarlett, Nora and Millie Oberly, Cooper and Johnny Webb, Lizzie Wenger and one great-grandchild on the way; and a sister, Mary Wilhelm of Argos, Indiana.
Bob was preceded in death by a son, David Robert Town; a grandson, Joshua Chidester and a brother, Bill Town.
Bob's services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton with Pastor David Glick and William Herr officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery following the service where military rites will be performed. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the church.
