"50 Years of Preserving Local History" Swiss Historical Society's spring meeting topic on Sunday
The Swiss Community Historical Society of Bluffton and Pandora invites the public to "50 Years of Preserving Local History" by Amos Schwartz, a historic preservationist from Berne, Ind. The presentation is Sunday, March 13, at 2 p.m. in the Patio Room (lower level) of Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Augsburger Road.
Schwartz is the recipient of the Indiana Landmark Association 2008 Historic Preservationist of the Year award. He has 50 years of experience in restoring historical dwellings and barns, and has restored seven bridges in Ohio.
His company is currently undertaking restoration of the workshop at the Swiss Homestead on Bixel Road. The workshop is one of several buildings owned by the Swiss Community Historical Society still in need of restoration to the Homestead's 1840s - 1850s time period.
Musical numbers will also be presented at the meeting, and refreshments will be served.
