Dr. Jacquelyn C.A. Meshelemiah, associate professor of social work at Ohio State University, will discuss "Human Trafficking: A Modern-Day Slavery" in a Bluffton University Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, in Yoder Recital Hall. The presentation is free and open to the public.
A Cleveland native, Meshelemiah is a licensed social worker who holds three degrees from Ohio State, including a doctorate conferred in 1995. After three years at the State University of New York at Buffalo-where she began her research related to prostitution-she returned in 1998 to Ohio State, where she continues to study prostitution and human trafficking.
She is the author and co-author of numerous publications and presentations that primarily focus on those issues, along with social work practice, substance abuse and social justice. She also serves as chair of the board of Rahab's Hideaway, a Columbus safe haven for victims, and those at risk, of human trafficking.
