Marilyn Rose Gratz Fett 1932-2011
Marilyn Rose Gratz Fett, 78, died at 2:39 p.m. March 15, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Beaverdam to Virgil and Cleda Swankhouse Gratz, who preceded her in death. On May 6, 1951, she married Louis E. Fett, who survives.
Mrs. Fett was a 59-year member of South Side Christian Church, where she was active in Mary Martha Circle and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a 1950 graduate of Beaverdam High School. She retired from Bath schools after 20 years where she had been a monitor. She also was employed three and half years by the U.S. government.
She was a member of Bath PTS and enjoyed following her grandchildren's many activities and supporting Bath athletics. She enjoyed camping with the Smiling Good Sams Chapter 25 Club and Wednesday night euchre club at the American Legion. She also enjoyed canning, sewing, gardening and exhibiting at the Allen County Fair.
Survivors also include her stepmother Margaret Gratz, of Eau Claire, Wis.; a son, Robert (Diana) Fett, of Defiance; three daughters, Barbara (Jeff) Niemeyer, of London, Ohio, Betsy (Jeff) Best, of Lima, and Brenda (Jeff) Cain, of Springfield; 13 grandchildren, Erin and Grant Niemeyer, Alyssa, Lauren, Kristen, Olivia and Jennifer Rose Fett, Justin and Kristy Best, and Addison, Sarah, Jack, and Lily Rose Cain; three brothers, Emil (Betty) Gratz, of Danbury, Wis., Samuel (Nadine) Gratz, of Madison, Wis., and David (Debbie) Gratz, of Eau Claire, Wis.; and a sister, Emily (Richard "Kent") Stonehill, of Lima.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at South Side Christian Church. The Rev. Doug Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Lewis Eastside Chapel, and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church.
