John Veland Bucher 1927-2011
John Veland Bucher, 84, of Findlay and formerly of Pandora died Monday morning, March 28, 2011, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born Jan. 7, 1927, near Columbus Grove on Bucher Road to Ezra E. and Elvina Hilty Bucher. On June 21, 1947, he married Thelma Pearl Bridenbaugh, his wife of 63 years and she survives.
Mr. Bucher graduated from Columbus Grove High School and farmed on Road 4 near Pandora for 50 years. He served as a Riley Township Trustee for 16 years. He served in the Marines during WWII and was a life member of Pandora American Legion Post 616.
Survivors also include three sons, David (Tracy) Bucher of Valrico, Fla., Don (Cindy) of Circleville, Brad (Beverly) of Findlay, eight grandchildren, Jeremy Bucher, Jill (Justin) Folk, Kristen (Jamie) King, Benjamin Bucher, Andrew Bucher, Brenton Bucher, Bryce Bucher, Brittany Bucher, two step-grandchildren, Bruce Spitler, Amanda Spitler, three great grandchildren, Jonah Folk, Kailen King, Eliana King, step great grandson Gregg Spitler, a sister Vidella Schey of Leipsic and two sisters-in law, Lucille Bucher of Bluffton and Wilma Bucher of Pandora.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon, Vinton and Victor Bucher and five sisters, Verena Schumacher, Viola Bucher, Velma Conrad, Veldine Bucher and Vera Diller.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pandora United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Hollinger will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora, where the Pandora American Legion will conduct military rites.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Pandora United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
