Terry Mullenhour replaces Beverly Amstutz as chairperson of village cultural affairs committee
After serving as chairperson of the Bluffton Village Cultural Affairs Committee for several years and heading up Bluffton's 150th anniversary celebration, Beverly Amstutz has stepped down.
Standing in front of the Presbyterian Church lawn, in anticipation of things to come there this winter, is Amstutz's replacement.
Terry Mullenhour, was appointed as replacement for Amstutz by Fred Rodabaugh, Bluffton mayor, at the Sept. 12 council meeting.
Mullenhour is excited about the position, which primarily involves the care of, and the placing and removing of the Harry and Dorothy Ream holiday folk art display on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn each November to January.
She is no newcomer to the work of the cultural affairs committee as she has almost single-handily repaired every piece of the Ream display over several years. In addition, she has added several new pieces to the display in keeping with the Ream folk art style.
"We are looking for ideas for a new ornament for the lawn," she said. "We also invite volunteers to help with the Ream project."
The busy time for Mullenhour and her committee is from early November when the display goes up until early January when it comes down.
"We also need persons knowledgeable with electric skills to assist during the Blaze," she added.
Serving on the cultural affairs committee with Mullenhour include Roger Brodman, Lynda Best, Jerry Burkholder, Shelia Niswander, Nancy Yeager, Chris Ackerman and Dennis Morrison.
While the Blaze is the largest segment of the cultural affairs committee, the group is also involved in several other arts projects in Bluffton.
Persons with ornament ideas or interested in helping the committee may contact Mullenhour at terry&[email protected] or at 419-358-0458.
