On a sunny October afternoon, Bluffton University officials provided a tour of the new Knowlton Science Center for donor and alumnus Greg Wannemacher and members of his staff.
Bluffton University will host an artist reception for Kathleen Pahl and her exhibit “A Line is a Point” from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 21, in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Sauder Visual Arts Center. The event is part of Bluffton’s Homecoming and Alumni Weekend 2023 activities.
Bluffton University’s Fall Choral Concert will be held on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall
Under the direction of Dr. Bo Young Kang, director of choral activities, University Chorale will perform selections including “Gaelic Song of the Boatman” by Sine NicFhionnlaigh, “Weep No More” by David Childs, and “Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen” from German Requiem by Brahms.
Camerata Singers will perform selections including “Best Day of My Life” by Zachary Barnett, “Stand Up” from the movie “Harriet” by Joshuah Campbell, and “Sing” by Mark Brymer.
This event is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken for music scholarships.
The Bluffton High School volleyball team was upset in four sets by visiting Ottawa-Glandorf in Div. III sectional semifinal action Monday night, October 16.
The number five seed Pirates won the first set 25-22, but then dropped the next three to the Titan girls 25-20, 25-14, 25-22. Watch the match on Volleyball BHS-Youtube HERE.
Mehaffie repeats as coach of the year; three players on 2nd team

The Northwest Conference champion Bluffton High School girls soccer team placed eight players on the all-league teams, led by two first teamers and three second-team picks, in voting conducted Sunday by the league coaches.
The Pirate girls repeated as NWC champs at 5-0-1, finishing just ahead of rivals Allen East (5-1) and Columbus Grove (4-1-1).
Bluffton seniors Jasmine Hasting and Ella Armstrong were named first team All-NWC by the coaches.
William "Bill" K. Place, 67, peacefully passed away October 14, 2023, at St. Rita's Medical Center surrounded by the love of his family.
William was born January 26, 1956 in Lima to William and Helen (Clark) Place who preceded him in death. He later married Sally (Pulfer) Place who survives.

National School Bus Safety Week begins today, October 16, and runs through Friday, October 20. During this week, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be increasing enforcement efforts on school bus violations. These violations include passing a stopped school bus, school zone violations and other school bus or school zone-related activity.
