Joyce Suter and Scott Gleason tied as winners of the final regular season Icon high school weekly football contest. Andy Borgelt was eliminated in tie-breaker.

Mike Burris was the clear overall season winner in this year's contest. The cummulative records follow the weekly records below. Corey Greer was the judge of the high school contest.

Bluffton University finished in a five-way tie for first place in the HCAC. Hanover, Mount St. Joseph, Bluffton, Transylvania and Rose-Hulman all went 7-2 in the conference.

The tie-breaking procedures placed the five teams in the order above. As the #3 seed, Bluffton will face #6 seed and long-time rival Defiance College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Founders Hall, a rematch from this past Wednesday night.

The winner of that contest will face #2 seed Mount St. Joseph at Hanover College on Saturday, Nov. 5 (5 p.m.).

The Icon invites all Halloweeners to stop by 226 Grove Street tonight. We'll take your photo and maybe your video, that is, if you dress appropriately. You may even say hello to Ike the Iconoclast mascot, if he isn't chasing a squirrel. Perhaps you'd better not dress as a squirrel.

Expect us to ask you to identify yourself behind the mask. That way when we post your photo on The Icon we can identify you to the rest of the Icon viewers.

Here's an interesting black and white Bluffton business photo taken by Leland Gerber. Two 1951 Ford trucks pose in front of Bixel Ford (now M&R Plumbing and Heating) on Cherry Street. The truck proudly proclaim A to Z home killed meats, beef, pork, veal, lamb. City health inspected - Bluffton, Ohio. We wonder if these two vehicles were the initial A to Z vehicles in the fleet.

The Icon spotted this plate downtown Bluffton recently. Can you identify the state?

With a promising start to the season that included a 3-2 record and a near upset of Ada, Bluffton would only finish with a 5-5 record.

Season stats and game stats are in attachments at the bottom of this story.

However when you consider that a freshman quarterback played in the final 5 games of the season, the .500 record sure seems like a significant accomplishment and the future prospects for this team look much brighter with quarterback Robbie Stratton getting invaluable experience.
