The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 39th annual Bluffton arts and crafts show Saturday, May 22, downtown Bluffton. This year's event includes over 50 craft booths. The show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition, the show will have free entertainment (BHS jazz band and BHS show choir), food vendors, a llama exhibit, a student art show, pony rides, farmer's market, and ethnic foods.
At first glance this plate appears to state "Ohio 1992." But, there's no doubt a second story here. It's just that we don't know that verse. Could it be a 1992 high school grad?
Bluffton University's College Hall will soon have an elevator. That addition to the oldest building on campus is underway this spring. Paul Bigelow of Lima works on the foundation of the project, which extends the building into the former parking lot north of College Hall.
In front of the Cleveland Museum of Art sits a bronze cast of Rodin's "The Thinker."
"You'll notice his feet have been blown away," says Dr. Susan Streeter Carpenter, a Cleveland native and assistant professor of English at Bluffton University. A nearby plaque notes the defacement is "the work of vandals" and adds, "The vandals were never found."
The Bluffton Public Library invites young patrons to dress up in their fanciest ensemble (don't forget to accessorize), bring your posh pet (pretend pets only, please) and join the staff for an unforgettable Fancy Nancy Tea Party.
The event is at 6 p.m., Monday, May 10, at the library, according to Rikki Steingass, youth services coordinator.
There is no cost for this program, but guests are asked to register at the front desk or by phone, 419-358-5016. This program recommended for ages 2-8; each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

As the Iraqi war fades from front page news headlines, it's easy to forget the trauma still being experienced by two million Iraqi refugees in Syria and Jordan.
A special photo exhibit documenting their situation will be held at First Mennonite Church, in the basement Assembly Room, on Sunday, May 2, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public.
Bluffton University's annual Athletics Awards Forum became a family affair on April 20.
Moments after basketball player Ginny Buckingham received the Kathryn E. Little Award as the university's outstanding senior female athlete, her father, Keith, was presented the Larry W. Jones Memorial Award for his support of, and significant contributions to, Bluffton athletics.
Joining the Buckinghams, of Bluffton, as an award recipient was baseball player Cody McPherson of Northwood, Ohio, who earned the A.C. Burcky Award as outstanding senior male athlete.
