Letter: Remembering classmate Loren Core

Butch Amstutz remembers BHS classmate Loren Core

I have had a few special friends in my life, and Loren Core was one of them. In our Bluffton High School Class of 1964, we had such a fun group of friends.

A few of us had cars in school, and back then, that was a big deal. One of Loren’s first vehicles was Hilty Flowers’ delivery panel truck. If that truck could talk, it would have had a lot of stories to tell about Loren’s driving!

When we graduated, our little group of friends still stuck together. We had the best times together. Loren was so ornery.

We went through the “muscle car era,” and Loren had a 1968 Dodge Super
Bee, and some of the rest of us had muscle cars, too. That was a time none of
us will forget.

Loren moved to Arizona and started a family. We visited him a few times and always had many stories to tell when we came back to Bluffton. Loren’s final home was in the mountains of Virginia.

In Loren’s lifetime, he went through a kidney transplant that did give us extra years with him. For that, we are very grateful.

Special friends are always remembered and never forgotten.

In special memory of Loren Core,
Butch Amstutz, BHS Class of ‘64
