Obituaries

Terry Lewis Huber, 64, died April 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. He was born May 15, 1955, in Lima to Dale Lewis Huber, who survives near Bluffton, and Etta Jo (Maynard) Huber, who preceded him in death. On May 22, 1982, he married Cheryl Kay Anspach, and she survives in Lima.

Terry graduated from Bluffton High School in 1973 and attended The Ohio State University. He and his twin brother, Larry, operated Huber Farms.

Mary Rosella “Rose” Smith, 87, died April 11, 2020. Born in Bluffton, Ohio, on Dec. 2, 1932, to the late Paul and Blanche Shulaw, she married Samuel L. Smith who died in September of 2019.  

During her life she worked at the Erie Army Depot in the 1950s, was a newspaper reporter in the 1960s, worked in the Hancock County Court system, was secretary to Judge Moorhead in the 1970s, and later church secretary for Pastor Howard Spriggs, Findlay. After retiring, she and her husband Sam,  managed the Bluffton Superwash. 

And served as chair of the Foreign Language Department

Dr. Anne Lippert, 86, died on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at 2:10 a.m. at her residence in Ada, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1934 in Seattle, Washington, to the late Raymond and Eva (Doren) Lippert.  On May 7, 1977, Anne married Jeffrey M. Schulman and he survives in Ada. 

Roe N. Lansing,  97, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 5 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

He was born on June 2, 1922, in Big Springs, Ohio, to the late Charles O. and Dora Mae (O’Brien) Lansing. On Aug. 16, 1941, Roe married Alice E. Simon and she preceded him in death.

Ralph W. Beemer, 91, died March 30, 2020, at his residence. Ralph was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Beaverdam to the late Roy and Florence (Walters) Beemer.  

Ralph graduated from Beaverdam High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He worked as a foreman at Hatfield Oldsmobile in Maumee, Ohio. Ralph was affiliated with the Beaverdam Church of Christ.  He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, wood worker and enjoyed the outdoors.  

Played football at Oberlin, was assistant football coach with several schools

Kevin A. Wahl, 38, of Pandora died on March 26, 2020. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana, on June 22, 1981, to Richard and Terri (Eley) Wahl. After attending Pandora-Gilboa Schools he graduated in 2000.

He was an alumnus of Oberlin College he was a member of the Oberlin football team for four years.  Kevin received his Master’s Degree in psychology from Northern Arizona University.  

He was an assistant football coach for several schools and also coached midget football.  

Kevin was a member of Columbus Grove Christian Church.
