The 12th annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf For Kids' Sake will kick off Saturday, June 11, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Hidden Creek Golf Club, rural Beaverdam.
Registration for a golf team of four is $220, includes golf, two carts, and drink tickets.
First place payout of $300, second and third place teams rewarded. Contests include two closest to the pin, two long drives, and two hit the green charity holes for men and women.
The Lady Pirate defense put on a top notch performance as they held off the Lincolnview Lancers Monday in an NWC match-up.
The Pirates, looking to keep their NWC title shot alive, defeated the Lancers 6-5 at Harmon Field. The Pirates started off with a single by Ashlin Gable. Gable was able to score off an error hit by Molly Lengyel.
The Pirates trailed the Lancers 3-1 in the second inning before the bats came alive. Katie Palte was able to reach first base on a nicely placed bunt, followed by a walk by Lexi Luginbihl. Briana Laing blasted a double scoring Palte.
The rain did not damper the Lady Pirates Thursday as they traveled to LCC for a conference game with the T-Birds. The Pirates have been rained out all week, coming off a 6-4 loss to Crestview last Thursday and a 22-3 blasting of Anna on Saturday.
After a short wait on the rain to clear a bit, the Pirates opened up with a home run smash by Molly Lengyel in the first inning scoring two runs.
A men's alumni basketball tournament is set Saturday, June 4, at Bluffton High School, according to Todd Boblitt, BHS boys' coach.
The teams will be comprised of any graduate from Bluffton High School. It is not a requirement that you played basketball on the high school team.
Two divisions will compete: recreational and competitive.
The competitive division will be a double-elimination tournament and the recreational format will be determined at a later time, depending on team interest.
Bluffton High School boys' basketball program is offering a parent/son clinic on Saturday, May 28, according to Todd Boblitt, BHS coach.
There is no cost to be held from noon to 2 p.m. in the middle school gym. The event will include skills, drills and fun competitions offered for boys, grades 3-6, and their parent by Boblitt.
