Bluffton University’s mission is to “prepare students of all backgrounds for life as well as vocation.”

During the 2016-17 academic year, the university will boost its efforts toward vocational exploration through The Venture Project, a program made possible through the generous support of the Council of Independent Colleges and the Lilly Foundation Inc. The Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVue) grant is worth $25,000.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) recently announced the 2015-16 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. 2015-16 seniors Mitchel Huffman (Accounting) and Billy Taflinger (Mathematics) along with juniors Adam Hopkins (Criminal Justice) and Trey Elchert (Education) were all selected according to the criteria that is listed below.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on July 28, its academic awards for the 2015-16 NCAA DIII Track & Field season - including All-Academic and Scholar of the Year awards.

Junior All-American Terrill Webb (Kenton) is the first Bluffton University track and field athlete to earn this prestigious honor.

It comes on the heels of her being named the Heartland Conference Women's Athlete of the Year following All-American performances in indoor track and field and outdoor track and field during the 2015-16 school year.

Some familiar faces will be serving in new roles when graduate students begin classes at Bluffton University this fall.
 
On July 1, Dr. George Lehman will become the director of the Collaborative MBA, a partnership between four Mennonite colleges, while maintaining his roles as Howard Raid professor of business and business studies division chair.

Dr. Melissa Green, who is Bluffton’s newest faculty member, will take over Lehman’s duties as director of graduate programs in business while teaching undergraduate and graduate marketing courses at Bluffton.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced recently that 762 teams have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2015-2016 season. This number breaks the previous year's total of 757 to set an all-time high.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
