Coach Garmatter's Bluffton team won their tournament on Saturday. The team won the 8-10 year old Tri County Coach Pitch Softball Tournament title. This team was also the Tri County Coach Pitch League Champs and were undefeated for the entire season.

Coach Roob's Bluffton team won their tournament on Saturday. The team of 11-13 year olds won the Tri County Fast Pitch Softball Tournament title.

Are you looking for something fun to do on Monday afternoons? Bluffton Public Library is having a Novel Destinations Film Festival this summer in the lower level of the library. The next movie is set to play on Monday, June 27, at 2 p.m.

Escape the heat and enjoy some popcorn, courtesy of Shannon Theatre. Individuals ages 13 and up are welcome to attend.

Two Bluffton University students are serving this summer in churches in Pennsylvania and Kansas as part of Mennonite Church USA's Ministry Inquiry Program (MIP).

Participating in the program are Rachel Harris from Carey, at Neffsville Mennonite Church in Lancaster, Pa., and Shawn Yoder from Plain City, at South Hutchinson (Kan.) Mennonite Church. At the same time, both students-seniors and youth ministry minors at Bluffton-are also completing required internships, earning academic credit for meeting requirements for ministry contact hours, reading and journal writing.

Two incoming students at Bluffton University have been awarded the university's full-tuition Presidential Scholarships, valued at more than $100,000 for four years, while two others have received Dean's Scholarships, worth more than $75,000 over the same period.

Bradley Schlabach of Fredericksburg and Jessica Roth of Rockford, are the Presidential Scholarship recipients. Schlabach, a 2011 graduate of Hiland High School, is the son of Paul and Ruth Schlabach, while Roth, the daughter of David and Julie Roth, is a 2011 Parkway High School graduate.

Four Bluffton University faculty members are pursuing scholarly and creative projects in their respective fields this summer with the aid of Bluffton University Research Center (BURC) grants.

It's almost here...a couple days away. It's Bluffton's sesquicentennial celebration week. The sesquicentennial committee recently released a poster listing a summary of activities. Icon viewers may download the poster for a quick reference on what takes place where and when.

Shannon Theatre will hold a movie poster sale during the sesquicentennial. Hundreds of movie posters (2006-present) will be on sale. All posters only $10. Shannon Theatre lobby Friday, June 24, Saturday, June 25, Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Swiss Community Historical Society shares its traditional, Sunday, June 26, Swiss Day schedule this year with the Old Settler's Potluck & Reunion organized by the Bluffton Sesquicentennial.

Both groups are invited to bring food and attend the noon potluck meal at 12:30 p.m. at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, as well as the afternoon program time.

The Bluffton Sesquicentennial Planning Committee developed a plan for a potluck and get-together of descendants of the early settlers of the Bluffton area on June 26 at Ebenezer Church.
