Beaverdam Volunteer Fire and Rescue will host its 59th annual Summerfest from 4 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9.
The event features homemade food, games, live band (Chez Cheese), safety demonstrations and a raffle drawing for grand prizes and door prizes.
This year's prizes include a 4-foot Poly Glider, Stainless Steel Kenmore Grill, Air Hockey Table, $300 Meijer gift card, Inflatable Bounce House and an Ohio State campfire ring.
There will also be live chain saw carving by On Track Carvings.
Ada High School, as a Division VI football team, has moved from Region 20 to Region 22 in this year’s Ohio High School Athletic football playoff makeup. Bluffton will remain in Region 22.
The Bulldogs are one of 15 Ohio schools who have changed regions. The only other school close to Ada making a Division VI change is Riverdale, who also moved from Region 20 to 22.

While the normal average July temperature is 72.8 degrees, this year’s average temperature was a cool 68.7 degrees.
July 2014 precipitation totaled 2.99 inches with the normal July average precipitation at 3.85 inches.

Exactly $59,200 was raised by Lima Building and Construction Trades partners at the annual Husky golf outing held July 26.
“Last year the golf outing brought in $114,000, and this year’s contribution by our partners represents more than half that amount. Our skilled union trades, union contractors and labor management groups are very proud to support this outing which enriches so many worthy organizations,” says Lima Building and Construction Trades President Mike Knisley.
Husky donates the funds raised at the golf outing to a variety of non-profit organizations.

It appears that the official Bluffton bird may be some type of sea gull. On Aug. 4, while strolling down Main Street, the Icon checked the town hall clock for the time. We checked at 8 o'clock, to be exact.
That's when the we noticed this regal creature perched atop Bluffton's iconic clock tower. We'll watch again today, but probably won't see this guy. Perhaps he was searching for larger water than the Buckeye.
A one-week residency featuring author Bill Grace will kick off the new Collaborative Master of Business Administration program started by Bluffton and Eastern Mennonite universities along with Goshen (Ind.) College.
Ideal Images, 114 E. College Ave., Bluffton, will host a “Ladies Night,” Wednesday, Aug. 13, according to Rachel Webster owner.
