The 6th annual Rally Point River Ride takes place in Lima Saturday, Aug. 9.

Many  families with young children come to particapate in the 20-mile ride based off the Rotary River Walk in Lima.  Young bikers and parents with trailers take off from Heritage Park for a 10-mile ride to Ottawa Metro  Park. 

Ten Thousand Villages reminds engaged couples that they may sign-up for a gift registry at the Bluffton store. 

And, currently a wedding gift special is being offered, according to Aphaphanh Nussbaum, manger. The special is a pair of celebration goblets, which are silver-plated brass in a velvet keepsake box. The goblets are handcrafted from India.

The Eastern Mennonite University women's track & field team and sophomore Hannah Chappell-Dick picked up one final honor from the 2013-14 athletic year, as each was awarded for academic work by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Royals were one of 158 institutions to earn an All-Academic Team recognition.  Eastern Mennonite had a team GPA of 3.40, easily qualifying for the award for the second straight year.  To earn the award, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher.

Dolyn O. Thompson, 55, of Loveland passed away July 30, 2014. Dolyn was born August 25, 1958 in Blythe, Calif. His parents are Charles Case and Beverly Thompson. After graduation from high school in West Virginia, Dolyn entered the Navy and was honorably discharged.

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District.

The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four. In order to pick up a box, you must register by calling 419-384-3038 by 5 p.m. on August 15.

Boxes will be available to be picked up at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 30 at the Grace Mennonite Church located at 502 East Main Street, Pandora.

Funds received from the United Way of Bluffton, Beaverdam and Richland Township allow the American Red Cross/Allen County Chapter to respond to everyday emergencies and provide vital and needed services in the community.

On Monday, Bluffton council will hear a request for surveillance cameras to be placed at the village Service Department Garage on Spring Street.

Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, says that for years the village has discussed placing cameras there.

National Night Out in Bluffton is Tuesday.

Icon viewers are invited to join forces with communities nationwide for the 31st annual National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. Bluffton observes the event on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Sergeant Matt Oglesbee of the Bluffton Police Department is the local coordinator.
This is the first time for the Bluffton and Pandora police departments to participate in the event.
