The Shannon Cemetery Commission, meeting Sept. 3, agreed to use a survey devised by one of its members to get a pulse of the community's views on the cemetery's future.
Harriet Moyer of the commission created the survey that was approved by the commission.
"This is an outreach attempt to look at other segments of the community," she said about the survey.

Bluffton council will act on legislation that provides a stated proceedure to close an alley in the village.
The first of three readings of the ordinance is on Tuesday's council agenda. If enacted one of the parts of the process includes an alley vacation checklist. Here is the checklist under consideration:
Pauline A. Bauman, 96, of Bluffton died at 12:54 a.m. Sept. 3, 2015, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Polly was born Sept. 30, 1918 in Lima to Abraham and Ella Zurfluh Sprunger. On May 28, 1944, she married Harvey Bauman and he survives.
DETROIT, Mich. - The Bluffton University women’s soccer team took on the Mustangs of Marygrove College on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015. The Beavers went up 5-0 and were victorious 5-2. It marks Bluffton's first win (1-1) of the season and gives Head Coach Rhonda Gottschalk her first victory as a collegiate head coach! The Mustangs dropped to 0-2 on the season.

However, it did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the Beavers’ cross country team as they took to the course for their first meet of the season.
WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Bluffton Beaver football team kicked off the 2015 season by dropping a heartbreaker to the Wilmington College Quakers, 14-10, on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Beavers (0-1) lost on a 53-yard touchdown toss from Austin Jarbo to Brandon Mitchell with just one minute to go.
