CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - The Bluffton University women’s soccer team traveled to Circleville to pick up a 2-1 victory over Ohio Christian University on Saturday, Sept. 26. The win pushed the Beavers back up to the .500 mark at 4-4, while the loss dropped the Trailblazers to 4-4.
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - The Bluffton men’s soccer team fell in a tough contest to the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers by a 3-2 tally on Saturday, Sept. 26. The loss dropped the Beavers to 0-7, while the Blazers improved to 4-3.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Beaver harriers ventured westward to Terre Haute, Ind., for the Great Lakes Pre-Regional Cross Country Invitational contested on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, site of multiple NCAA national and high school state championship meets.
Margaret Houshower, 94, died Sept. 23, 2015, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Margaret was born on Sept. 8, 1921, in Bluffton to Herbert W. and Olga (Kennel) Berky. She was a graduate of Bluffton High School and Bluffton College ’42 where she met her husband, Mark Houshower. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before his death in 2009.
The Bluffton community’s 12th annual Fall Festival, with many family-oriented activities, takes place throughout the community on Saturday, Sept. 26, according to Daren Lee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, who coordinates the festival.
The Bluffton Schools will hold a district-wide open house on Monday, September 28. The elementary school will be open from 6-7 p.m., the middle school from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and the high school from 7-8 p.m.
Several community organizations will have booths set-up in the elementary gymnasium and information will be available on ways to provide support to the school and community.
All parents and community members are invited to this open house event to meet staff members, observe facilities, and learn more about the educational opportunities available to Bluffton students.
Popular area musician, Jim Boedicker, will perform at the Bluffton Farmers' Market on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The market is located in the Citizens National Bank parking lot on South Main Street. Market hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon. Boedicker will perform in the Market's Main Street entrance.
The Market is part of this year's Bluffton Fall Festival, also taking place on Saturday. The Market is sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.
While the Constitution doesn’t guarantee a right to health care, “neither has it, by and large, stood in the way” while Congress has “slowly recognized a responsibility to ensure relatively universal access” to care, according to a law professor and authority on the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
A right to care “is not yet fully realized,” but the vast majority of Americans now have access to federally subsidized coverage via President Obama’s health care law, said Dr. Timothy Jost, who spoke Sept. 22 at Bluffton University.
