Bluffton University will celebrate service, achievement and charitable giving at the President’s Banquet on Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 10. Dr. James M. Harder, university president, will host a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Burcky Gym, followed by the banquet at 6:30 p.m. in Founders Hall.
Two alumni awards will be presented during the banquet.
Bluffton Elementary PTO announces a fundraising campaign underway now through Oct. 22, according to Tammy Whitlow.
"Our goal is to raise $100 between now and Oct. 22," she said.

Bluffton University will celebrate “The Power of Purple” during Homecoming weekend Oct. 10 and 11.
A focal point of the day on Saturday, Oct. 10, will be Alumni Field at Salzman Stadium, where installation of artificial turf and upgrading/resurfacing of the track and field event areas were recently completed.
Concerning his work as a project engineer Ryan Brauen says he likes to look at the big picture.
In his case, that picture includes lots of water.
Wessler Engineering will host an open house from 2 to 5 p.m., Friday. The event is open to the public. A Bluffton chamber ribbon cutting takes place at 5 p.m.
Earlier this year Bluffton native Brauen returned home to open an office of Wessler Engineering in the rear (Suite D) of the former Bluffton News building, 103 N. Main St.
“The Power of Purple” is a new phrase at Bluffton University, but the concept is as old as the institution, Bluffton’s president said Sept. 15.
It’s about bringing people and ideas together for a greater purpose, like red and blue together make purple—Bluffton’s main school color. And “Bluffton has always been about The Power of Purple,” said Dr. James M. Harder, who went on to illustrate it with five stories that comprised his annual President’s Forum address.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University senior defensive end Ryan Aelker (New Bavaria/Holgate) was voted as the HCAC Play of the Week for week 2. The senior earned the title after voting took place on various HCAC social media outlets.
With Bluffton holding a 38-26 lead late in the fourth quarter over Baldwin Wallace, Aelker makes a game-clinching sack on fourth down to solidify the Beavers' first ever win over the Yellow Jackets in program history.
