Owlsburg Tavern, or Van's, which ever you prefer, appears to be one of the stories of the year on the Icon. It received over 6,000 Facebook recognitions in a recent story, reaching viewers all the way to eastern Europe.

Betty L. Lewis, 73, of Ada died Sept. 27, 2015, at 5:44 p.m. at Cleveland Clinic. Betty was born Sept. 2, 1942 in Bluffton to William "Kaiser" and Mary Holmes Gaiffe. On July 27, 1963 she married James "Jim" Lewis and he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2014.
This year’s Bluffton High School homecoming court includes several members of the same family. Two sisters and two brothers are members of the court. And a sister-brother pair includes a court member and a driver.
The 2015 homecoming king and queen will be announced in a pre-game ceremony Friday at Harmon Field. Watch the Icon for more homecoming information.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Jenny Brown (St. Marys/Memorial) led the Beavers to a 2-0 mark at the last week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on offense for the week ending September 27, 2015. It marks the second straight Player of the Week honor for Brown after she propelled the Beavers to a 4-0 record at the Wooster Kilt Classic.
I had the exciting opportunity to catch up with John Oakley who is a member of Bluffton High School’s most recently graduated class. After his first few weeks of college he shared some of his initial reactions and insights into his freshman year.
Where are you attending school and what are you studying?
I am attending Bowling Green State University and I am studying Computer Science.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Bluffton University Beavers were in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Sept. 26, to take on the Fightin’ Engineers of Rose –Hulman, kicking off Heartland Conference play. Bluffton won its sixth straight in improving to 9-6 on the season, while RHIT dipped to 8-9 and 0-1 in the HCAC.
