Bluffton High School boys' basketball team more than doubled the score on Waynesfield-Goshen on Monday, winning 78 to 37.

Luke Denecker, Bluffton, led all scorers with 25 points.

Virginia G. Augsburger, 93, died Jan. 31, 2017, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Virginia was born July 6, 1923, in Bluffton to the late Clarence and Ethel J. (Michael) Roberts. On Feb. 3, 1946, she married Richard Augsburger who preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2011.

Mary Kathryn Niswander, 98, died Jan. 30, 2017, at Willow Ridge - Frieda House in Bluffton.  Mary was born June 15, 1918, in Pandora to the late Tony and Zella (Steele) Frantz.  On Dec. 24, 1938, she married Stanley Niswander and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2003.

Mary graduated from Pandora High School. She retired from Sears-Roebuck in Lima where she had been a division manager. Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bluffton and past member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lima.

Bluffton University football coach Denny Dorrell can give you some Super Bowl tips on Saturday.

He joins a panel of area football coaches to give their analysis on the Super Bowl game during the The  Made-in-Ada Wilson Football Festival the day before the Big Game between the New England Patriots (AFC champs) and the Atlanta Falcons (NFC champs).

Harvey Bauman, 96, died Feb. 1, 2017, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Robert “Bob” DiBiasio, the Cleveland Indians senior vice president of public affairs, and Jim Rosenhaus, the Indians radio announcer, will conduct a question-and-answer session from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, in James F. Dicke Hall on the campus of Ohio Northern University. The event is free and open to the public.

Stu Cleek, associate dean for residence life, Westmont College, will present “Campus Racial Climate and Sense of Belonging at Bluffton University and Beyond” for Forum at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public. 

As a doctoral student at the Rossier School of Education, University of Southern California, Cleek is completing a multi-institutional study that examines the perceptions of campus racial climate and sense of belonging by race/ethnicity, sex, religiosity and faith fit.
