Edith Lenore Burkholder, 92, died March 18, 2017, at 3:15 a.m. at Lima Convalescent Home. Edith was born June 21, 1924, in Columbus Grove to the late Jesse and Helen (Moore) Lentz. She married Jim Burkholder who preceded him in death on April 17, 1993.
She had worked at Terry's in Bluffton and Northland Lanes in Lima.
On Thursday, March 30, at 3:30 p.m. Janette Reineke will present a Children’s Art Lesson for ages 8-10.
In this art class, children will have a creative experience using the Impressionistic technique of French painter Claude Monet (1840-1926). Participants will use short, quick brush strokes with watercolors and paint a seascape.
Registration is required, and the final day to register is March 23.

Bill H. Haller, 87, died at 7:15 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017, at at Lima Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Bill was born Dec. 12, 1929 in Van Buren, Ohio, to the late Herbert and Vera (Pierce) Haller. On Dec. 14, 1956, he married Shirley (Lamb) Haller who survives. They were married for 60 years and had three children, Linda Rieck of Cairo, James Haller of Lima and Timothy (Gina) Haller of Lima; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Koehring and Jo Stonehill.
Orders are now being placed for this summer’s downtown flowerpots.
According to Susie and Steve Stratton of Stratton Greenhouses, “This is our 11th year for providing the potted plants on Main Street.”

Bluffton University will hold its annual C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Students selected to participate will prepare an oration, no more than ten minutes in length, that applies a peace-church perspective to an issue of contemporary concern.
