Next Thursday in Patio Room

Elders of Maple Crest Senior Living Village will hold a hobby show from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 27.

The show, open to the public, takes place in the Patio Room of Maple Crest, 700 Maple Crest Court, Bluffton.

At least 17 elders will display hobbies ranging from carved art to toy farm equipment. Those include:

Two community meals are planned in August at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St.

The first is at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, provided by the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

The second is at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, provided by the Shannon Service Club.3

Meals are free and open to the public. Persons wishing to make donations may bring a can of food for the Bluffton food pantry.

Bluffton Sardines swim team finished in third place in last weekend's Western Ohio Aquatic League meet in Kenton.

Calling all comic book fans! Join Alter-Ego Comics at the library for a Comics Pizza Party. Tweens, teens, and adults can come on July 27 at 6:30pm to the teen area on the main level of the library for some pizza and to learn from the experts what to look out for in comics and graphic novels in Fall of 2017. Register in advance so the library has enough pizza for everyone!

The library will host Adulting 101: Basic Care Maintenance at Leiber Garage (for teens and adults) on July 27 at 3:30pm. Ever wonder what you should check in between visits to your mechanic? Meet at Lieber Garage. Registration is required.

The Ever Changing Weather Show with Bob Beer is on July 25 at 6:30 p.m.

Bob Beer is a Weather Spotter who will share some of his experiences with weather, what weather signs to look out for, and more about how he became a weather spotter. This event is family friendly, and registration is required.

Aug. 4-5-6 performance of 'Service at Rock Bluff" - proceeds support Bluffton's Small town Super Hero

Tickets are now on sale for the Ebenezer Drama Ensemble production of  "The Service at Rocky Bluff," a two-act musical comedy.

Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 4-5-6, at Crossroads Ministry Center, 8905 Columbus Grove Road.

In a dinner theatre format, tickets are $10 and include dinner beginning at 6 p.m. and the show at 7 p.m.

The proceeds will be donated to our Small Town Super Hero: Owen Weaver.

Summer newsletter attached

Blanchard River Watershed Partnership (BRWP) received a $10,00 grant to strategic plan for Tiderishi Creek watershed in Hancock County, according to Phil Martin, BRWP coordinator.

Information about that grant and all other updates from the partnership are in the summer newsletter attached at the bottom of this story.

The Village of Bluffton is one of the government sponsors of the partnership.

Customer appreciation day Friday

Tommy Tire of Bluffton will hold a customer appreciation day on Friday, July 21, according to Tom Dotson, owner.

The event, at 319 N. Main St., Bluffton, includes homemade ice cream by Jay Lugibihl plus a visit by animals from Jungle Island Zoo of Delphos.

Events take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Please stop by and get some ice cream and see the animals from the Jungle Island Zoo," said Dotson.

The Bluffton High School class of 1945 will hold its 72nd class reunion at noon, Saturday, July 29, at Maple Crest, according to Gordon Bixel.
