They look and smell like they just came out of the car showroom floor. Here’s our glance at the 51st annual Bluffton Lions Club Wheels Festival held June 15 in downtown Bluffton. Nearly 200 vehicles were part of this year’s show.

Sunday's Swiss Day program should be on your "to do" list this weekend

Rich Bucher will lead the interactive
main program on the Swiss language.

It's Swiss Day, Sunday, June 24, from 12:30 to 3 p.m., at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road.

And, the Swiss Community Historical Society hosts its annual Swiss Day, a celebration of the culture and history of local Swiss settlers, including food, language, and genealogy.

Look who the Icon ran into on Saturday at Shirley's birthday party. He even offered us some of his popcorn.

Without providing any names - because that could give it away - we'll hand out a half dozen Shannon Theatre passes to Icon viewers who can ID this guy and give viewers a good sentence or two about him.

Depending upon the number of respoonses, we may hand out honorable mentions.

Congregation's services held in middle school this summer

Following today’s worship service, First Mennonite Church began the first step of  “Flooring to Flourishing,” a renovation of its sanctuary.

Volunteers moved pews from the sanctuary into the fellowship hall and several classrooms. This week, Lima Pipe Organ will remove the organ and pipes for the duration of the work.

When the project is complete near the end of summer, the sanctuary will have been painted, new carpeting and wood floors installed, larger hymnal racks underneath the pews, and a redesign of the steps in the chancel area.

Interstate 75 and state routes around Bluffton and Beaverdam

Several projects by the Ohio Department of Transportation will affect traffic patterns next week in the Bluffton area. Those follow:

• State Route 103 near the village of Jenera, between county Road 698 and township Road 59, will close June 25 for five days for replacement of three culverts. Traffic detoured onto state Route 235, U.S. 30 and U.S. 68 back to state Route 103. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage.
