State-wide map highlights 30 holiday lights to view

New this year, Bluffton’s Blaze of Lights is featured on the Holiday Lights Trail at Ohio.org/Holidays.

“The map will lead travelers to Bluffton’s Blaze of Lights, which includes the Ream folk art display, downtown holiday lights, and residential lights,” says Paula Scott, CEO of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

“We are thrilled that Bluffton’s cherished traditions are now part of the Holidays In Ohio campaign.

Stanley Allan Hartman, 57, died unexpectedly in his sleep Nov. 3, 2018, at his home in Lincoln, Vermont. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio, on Nov. 9, 1960, one of the seven children of Floyd and Jeannine Hartman. 

As a second generation pipefitter, Stan was a member of the Plumbing Union Local 693 for 38 years.

Pirate sports fans may now purchase passes and reserved seat orders with Bluffton High School for the 2018-19 season. A printer-friendly order form is attached below.

 

 

The Bluffton University cross country teams rounded out the 2018 season on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Blue River Cross Country Course for the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championship meet, tackling the course for the third time this year.

The women's team began the day with an 18th place finish in the 33-team field for their six-kilometer trek.

However, Democrat Senator Brown's totals indicate his popularity

It was no surprise that Republican candidates for state office swept Bluffton, Richland Township and Beaverdam voters on Nov. 6.

Bluffton voters supported Mike DeWine, Republican, over Richard Cordray, Democrat, in the governor’s race. Only once since 1936 have Bluffton voters supported a Democrat governor candidate. Watch the Icon for details on this historic trend.

Many ingredients from local farms and businesses

What started out as a spaghetti dinner fundraiser organized by Bluffton University nutrition and dietetics students 16 years ago has this year evolved into a farm-to-table feast featuring local produce and homemade fare. The  Friday, Nov. 16, Harvest Dinner includes menu items such as tomato sauce and watermelon jelly featuring garden-fresh ingredients.
