The Bluffton University football team kept the 'Hammer' right here at home after a dominating 34-7 win over rival Defiance on Saturday, Nov. 10.
The Beavers improved to 3-7 overall and 3-5 in the Heartland Conference, while Defiance fell to 1-9 and 1-7 in the HCAC. Bluffton has now won eight of its last nine against the Yellow Jackets for a 47-45-2 lead in the all-time series after the Senior Day victory.

Bluffton senior Luke Young has been selected to play in the Northwest Ohio Senior All-District Soccer game Sunday, Nov. 11, at Findlay's Elmer Graham Stadium. The men's game will kickoff at 2 p.m.
Dr. Jane Wood, Bluffton University president, shared a vision for the university’s future and told about graduate success during her address at Friday morning's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast.
Focusing on three “momentum makers,” Dr. Wood shared areas involving academics, student engagement and athletics.
“Over the next 12 to 18 months we will highlight these three areas as what we believe makes us stand out,” she said, based upon a summer planning retreat with the university cabinet.
A new ramp configuration on Interstate 75 will open Saturday as part of the reconstruction and widening of the interstate through Findlay and Hancock County.
A new flyover ramp, which will carry I-75 southbound traffic onto U.S. 68/state Route 15 or to Lima Avenue, will replace the existing loop ramp. The new ramp is referred to as a flyover because the ramp is carried over I-75 traffic to make the connection to U.S. 68/state Route 15 or Lima Avenue.
Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University, announced that the new, state-of-the-art Nutrition and Dietetics Lab in the Austin E. Knowlton Science Center will be sponsored by Sodexo with a lead corporate contribution of $650,000.
Autumn Gesler, a Bluffton High School senior, is the Icon's student artist of the month.
Autumn has taken Art 1, Design 1 and Art Seminar. Following graduation she would like to explore movie and video games animation/modeling.
Concerning art, she says, "Like most things, art is a escape. It's nice to just draw or paint things that do not actually exist because life is not always glorious. So art to me makes life a bit better. I hope the art I make, now or in the future, somehow makes someone else's life a bit better as well."
The Frosting Studio, Bluffton, wants you to be ready for Thanksgiving.
"Join us in our Thanksgiving cupcake workshop," says Debra Stockford, shop owner. "You'll take home a Thanksgiving cupcake 6-pack when the workshop is completed."
