Jeffrey W. "Jeff" Bugner, 62 of Rawson, died July 4, 2020, at Bluffton Hospital. Jeff was born Sept. 11, 1957, in Fostoria, to Martin Bugner and Gail (Baker) McKelvey, who preceded him in death.
On December 17, 1988, he married Cathlene "Cathy" (Settlemire) Bugner, who survives him in Rawson. Jeff attended Findlay High School and was a self-employed jack of all trades. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and Moose Lodge #199. Jeff enjoyed bowling, racing, fishing and sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Tigers and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Thursday a new Ohio Public Health Advisory Alert System that will help make clear the dangers of COVID-19 in Ohio counties.
As COVID-19 cases in the state rise, DeWine said the color-coded system is built on data to assess the spread of the virus and inform and empower individuals, businesses and local government in their response.
Interstate 75 road work will impact several Bluffton and Beaverdam north and southbound off ramps in the next few weeks. The ramp closing schedule follows:
NEW IMPACT
• Bentley Road entrance ramp to I-75 southbound will close July 6 for five days.
• Bentley Road exit ramp from I-75 northbound will close July 6 for five days.
• SR 696 exit ramp from I-75 southbound will close July 6 for 14 days.
UPCOMING IMPACT
• SR 696 entrance ramp to I-75 southbound will close July 12 for 14 days.
Bluffton Senior Center, 132 N. Main St., hopes to reopen sometime in July, according to Tonya Meyer, director.
“We have been in talks with the Ohio Department of Aging and the Ohio Senior Center Association to come up with best practices, she said, adding, “we hope to be able to open sometime in July.”
When the center finally is able to open, the first month will be one-on-one services only.

Jason Althaus, a 2019 Bluffton High School graduate, made the Dean's List at OSU-ATI during the spring term. He is a double major in Crop Management and Soil Conservation.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, at the Columbus Grove VFW, 218 E. Sycamore, Columbus Grove, from 5 - 8 p.m. Delbert died on March 14, 2020. Arrangements have been entrusted with Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
Treva E. Crawford, 97, died July 2, 2020, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Treva was born May 3, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Floyd and Christine (Stotts) Harris. On April 11, 1942, she married Raymond Crawford who preceded her in death on March 7, 1983.
We knew him as Bluffton College's most famous dropout. Then Bluffton College president, Robert Kreider, termed that phrase of Hugh Downs, who attended Bluffton College in the late 1930s.
Later he earned an honorary doctorate degree from Bluffton and was known as one of Bluffton’s “three D’s” – Downs, Phyllis Diller and Elbert Dubenion.
