The Bluffton High School volleyball team rallied after losing the first two sets, but visiting Van Buren won the decisive fifth game to capture their regular season finale battle Thursday evening, October 13.

Their second five-set loss in three days dropped the Bluffton record to 13-9.

VB improved to 17-3 with the 21-25, 22-25, 27-25, 25-23, 15-7 non-conference victory.

Ayla Grandey knocked down 20 kills to pace the Pirates. Kendall Stackhouse contributed a season-high 18 kills.

BLUFFTON, OH – The Bluffton University women's soccer team notched a 2-1 victory over Earlham College on a windy Wednesday, Oct. 12.

RICHMOND, Ind.–The Bluffton University men's soccer team traveled to Earlham College on Wednesday, Oct. 12, where they secured a 2-1 victory over the Quakers.

Bluffton University finished off a perfect 3-0 day when the volleyball team went the distance and then some for a 3-2 win over visiting Anderson University.

Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Rd., is hosting a Halloween Party and costume contest from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday October 30.

Two performances of Swing!--a Broadway song-and-dance show--are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts in Ada.

UPDATE: Out of an abundance of caution, Bluffton Baking Co. is recalling Pumpkin Pie Stuffed Cheesecake Cookies, which were sold from September 30-Oct. 4 in Hancock and Putnam County markets. If you purchased these cookies and please have some remaining, please do not consume.

The October 10 regular meeting of the Bluffton Council was a snappy affair, over in just about 30 minutes. The reason? There was no legislation on the agenda.

The meeting packet is attached and page numbers for supporting materials are listed below.

After approving the minutes of September 26 (pages 2-3) and payment of village bills (pages 4-5), council heard reports from committees, administration and safety services.

EMS Chief Jan Basinger provided the following activity report for local voluteer crews during July, August and September 2022.

The total number of calls for the year to date was 569 at the end of September.

The frost was on the pumpkin beginning the last week of September, as show by the local weather observations for September 2022.

A high of 87 degrees on September 21 and low of 38 degrees of September 30 were recorded.
