Proposed Village Income Tax increase would raise about $31M over 20 years; June 10 and June 18 public meetings scheduled

On Tuesday, May 28, the Village of Bluffton Council took the first steps required to ask Bluffton voters for new funding for Village EMS, Fire and Police departments. Beginning with a separate committee of the whole meeting, councilors reviewed developments that make current funding inadequate to continue existing levels of service.

Bring your kids/grandkids--both big and small and join "Mornings with Mommy" at the Jenera Park on the south edge of Jenera starting at 9:30 a.m. on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of June, July and August.

The headline reads: "Those ravishing seniors and teachers." School's been out for 50 years for Bluffton High School alumni in the class of 1974. Check out the 1974 Buccaneer courtesy of the BHS online Wall of Fame HERE.

Registration is open through June 3

A five day youth tennis program will be held at Bluffton High School Mon, Jun 17 - Fri, Jun 21, 2024 from 5:00 - 5:45 p.m. The program is for youth ages 5 - 9 years old.

The Swiss Community Historical Society of Bluffton and Pandora will host "Second Saturdays" events this summer at the Schumacher Homestead, 8350 Bixel Rd. Docents in period costume will provide tours of the air-conditioned farmhouse, as well as the summer kitchen, garden, workshop and barn.

Visitors will also get a first-hand view of progress on the Heritage Center, where the inside view reveals timbers and framework from the Dan and Cindy Basinger barn, built in 1855. (See SwissHistorical.org for more details.)

Kori Bernal was born and raised in Fostoria and–until now–has worked her whole career there, too. But in May 2024 she was chosen by the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools to be the new Elementary School principal beginning fall 2024.

Diana E. Walters, 76, passed away May 24, 2024, at the Mennonite Memorial Home.
