The first "Swiss Day" I attended was in the later 1970s. I was a student at Bluffton College and working under Dr. Delbert Gratz at the Musselman Library on campus. After his invitation, I ventured into Marbeck Center on a Sunday afternoon to find something very special. It was the start of my love for this tradition.
Women business owners and managers are invited to free monthly meetings where they can share experiences, network and mentor each other.
The first meeting is at 7:00 p.m. on August 15 at Bluffton Town Hall. Meetings will be the third Thursday of each month.
Melinda Bowden, owner of PromoHits Ltd. in Bluffton, and Liz Gordon-Hancock, owner of the Boehr Block, are coordinating the gatherings. The opportunity was announced at the June meeting of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.
On Monday, June 24, Bluffton Council passed the third readings of a resolution and an ordinance that will enable them to put new funding for Safety Services–Bluffton EMS, Fire and Police–before Bluffton voters on the November 5 ballot and to begin collecting it in 2025.
The Ohio State University Extension and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife are hosting evening workshops about chronic wasting disease (CWD) in Ohio’s wild deer herd.
Eileen Ann Steiner, 94, passed away June 24, 2024 at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center. Eileen was born April 25, 1930 in Baden, Ontario, Canada to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Steiner) Gingerich. On March 3, 1951 she married Donald Steiner who preceded her in death on October 24, 2009.

The Village of Beaverdam Council will hold its Annual Budget Hearing to discuss the proposed 2024 Tax Budget. The hearing will be held on July 2, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
The hearing will be held at the Town Hall in the Council Room. The hearing is open to the public.
A copy of the proposed 2024 Tax Budget is available for public examination in the office of the Village Fiscal Officer, 101 W Main Street, Beaverdam, Ohio during normal operating hours.
Downtown Bluffton has a new weekly attraction that grew out of event closures on Vine Street. The one-block, one-way stretch off Main St. now closes from 7:00 a.m. on Saturdays until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. The closure is scheduled through August.
