ALLEN COUNTY__ Drainage installation, drainage water recycling and soil health will be the focus of a field day being held  on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, beginning at 9 a.m. at The Ohio State University at Lima. 

Application form must be turned in by July 15

Thanks to generous donations in support of the St. John's United Church of Christ Bicycle Ministry, a contest to win a bike shop-quality bicycle and helmet from Bike Crazy LLC has been announced.

The church’s mission is to provide a free bicycle and helmet to children up to 13 years old. The giveaway will focus on local youth who have a need and desire for a high-quality bicycle in the Bluffton, Cory-Rawson and Pandora school districts.

The St. John's Bicycle Ministry Committee will select the best candidate or candidates, based upon how well participants meet the ministry objectives via their submitted responses to four questions on the entry form.  

Parents are welcome to help their children complete the form.

Michael Chanda Kingsley, 42, passed away at his home in Bluffton, Ohio, on Monday evening, May 6, 2024. Mike's memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at First Mennonite Church of Bluffton with Pastor Phil Yoder officiating.

Memorial Day is a widely observed federal holiday that was first created to recognize soldiers who died in the American Civil War. For many, Memorial Day means backyard barbecues, appliance sales and patriotic sentiments on social media.

During a heat warning on June 17, AEP listed a power outage near SR 103 and County Line Rd. affecting fewer than 10 customers. Estimated restoration is 6:30 p.m.

R. Kent Mathewson, 86, passed away June 16, 2024 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. 

Marjorie B. Hilty, 95, passed away on June 15, 2024 at Willow Ridge – Betty House in Bluffton.  A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

A sand volleyball fundraiser for Ryan Stackhouse will be hosted by Southgate Lanes, 9700 N Dixie Hwy, on Friday, July 26.

The event is open to 4-person teams of players age 18 and over. The cost is $200 per team with every penny benefiting Stackhouse for medical and other expenses.

The tournament is 8 teams maximum and will begin at 6:30 p.m.

There will also be raffles, a 50/50 drawing and Queen of Hearts.

Chase Cummings will perform from 8:00-10:00 p.m. on the Southgate patio.
