Local businesses have been invited to a Student Engagement Preview Party at Bluffton University on Wednesday, August 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has announced that Bihu Sandhir, MD, will become the organization’s Chief Medical Officer in October, after a national search led by an interview panel of BVHS physicians and advanced practice providers.

Larry and Judy Reichenbach will soon celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They will have a private dinner with family.

Rev. Drummond married Larry Reichenbach and Judy Allen on Aug. 15, 1964, in the Congregational Church, Union Grove, Wisconsin.

Larry is a mechanical engineering graduate of Ohio Northern University. He is a retired CEO and plant manager from Rogers Triem. Judy graduated from Union Grove High School and is a homemaker.

The Reichenbachs have five children: Larry Donald, Jr., (deceased), Jodie Parker, Bluffton; Paula (Mark) Schwemer, Kenton; Brent (Michelle) Reichenbach, Bluffton; and Brad Reichenbach, Castle Rock, Colorado. They have five grandchildren.

Evelyn R. Reese, age 99, from Pandora, Ohio, peacefully passed away on August 1, 2024 in Bluffton. 

F3 workouts are being coordinated in Bluffton beginning on August 6. F3 stands for Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith, and is a free, outdoor, peer-led workout for men of all ages and fitness levels.

Understanding the community’s foundational layer is imperative to foster responsible development. An area’s historic, geologic, geographic, climate and drainage patterns are staples of any comprehensive plan. Familiarity with these topics encourages development in the most suitable locations and aids policymakers in ensuring residents utilize community resources optimally.

History, Government & Attributes
In the northeast corner of Allen County and the southwest quadrant of Hancock County, the Village of Bluffton houses roughly 4,000 permanent residents and university students according to the 2020 decennial census. The village is nearly equidistant from Lima and Findlay, the seats to their respective counties. Bluffton is a regional destination featuring a downtown area with amenities valued by residents and visitors.

Bluffton Presbyterian Church is celebrating its 175th anniversary in 2024. The church, originally called The Presbyterian Church of South Bethel, was organized June 6, 1849. The first members met in various homes. In 1852 the Goble heirs donated the land where the present church now stands. The first building was erected soon after.

As a kickoff to the celebrations, the church will present  “The Story of Jesus in Music” on Sunday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m.  The public is invited to this concert which features three professional harpists, violin, viola, guitar, hand bells, choir and a narrator. Light refreshments will be served after the one-hour concert.

During Bluffton History Day on August 10, Bluffton Presbyterian will be serving Lunch on the Lawn from 10:00-1:30 with sandwiches, chips, drinks and desserts for sale.
