VAN WERT __ The visiting Bluffton High School volleyball team outlasted Northwest Conference rival Lincolnview in five sets to capture a key battle and sole possession of second place in the league Tuesday night, October 1.

The Pirates won for the 15th time in 17 matches by rallying to capture the final two sets. 

The Pirates improved to 16-3 overall and 4-1 in the NWC after the 25-22, 23-25, 18-25, 28-26, 15-10 marathon victory. 

Lincolnview dropped to 12-5 overall and 3-2 in NWC play with the close defeat.

The Village of Bluffton has scheduled a Tree Commission public meeting on Wednesday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at Bluffton Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School volleyball team swept visiting non-conference rival Patrick Henry on Monday night, September 30.

The Pirates won for the 14th time in 16 matches. 

The Pirate girls improved to 15-3 overall after the 25-17, 25-13, 25-20 win. PH fell to 8-9 overall with the loss.

Ayla Grandey topped the Pirates with 11 kills.

Kendall Stackhouse knocked down 10 kills, Libby Hocanson smacked nine kills and Karlie Lora added seven for the balanced Bluffton attack.

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School boys soccer team defeated Lincolnview 5-0 in a  Northwest Conference match Monday evening at Steinmetz Field to clinch yet another outright league championship.

The win sealed a 10th NWC title for the Pirates, and they remain undefeated at 46-0-0 all-time over 10 seasons of conference play.

The Pirate record improved to 8-6 overall after their sixth straight win, and they finish 4-0 in the NWC with the victory. 

Lincolnview fell to 3-9-1 overall and 1-2-1 NWC after the defeat.

COLUMBUS GROVE __ The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost its likely Northwest Conference championship showdown match at unbeaten rival Columbus Grove 2-1 Monday evening, September 30.

The host Bulldog girls scored two second half goals to overcome a halftime deficit and narrowly win.

The Pirate record fell to 8-3-1 overall after the difficult defeat, and they finished 5-1 in NWC play. The loss snapped a four-match win streak. It was also their first loss in 18 league matches dating back to 2021 vs. Grove.

The Gardeners of the Bluffton/Pandora Area will host a program on Invasive plant species that is free and open to the public. 

The guest speaker is Anne Smedley, Natural Resources Manager for Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District. She will explain how to identify invasive plant species in your fall garden, and how to remove them before next season.

On September 26 ground was broken on the Bluffton Soccer Complex to be developed on land donated by and adjacent to SumiRiko Ohio on Snider Rd near the Bluffton Community Pool and Bluffton YMCA.
