The month of September will be a busy one for the Bluffton Lions. Their August newsletter lists the following activities:

September 3 - Club meeting at Town Hall, 6:30 p.m.

September 3 -County Line Pathway Dedication, 4:00 p.m. at Bluffton Child Development Center. Public invited. 

September 5 - 7: USA/Canada forum in Louisville, KY.

September 9-19 - Eye screening for children at local schools and daycares. Contact Lion Barbara Plaugher to assist with this program.

LIMA __ During the 10 Million Steps to Prevent Falls campaign, the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) is asking community partners to host local walking groups and events to raise awareness of older adult falls.

BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School golf team defeated visiting Carey in a dual match Wednesday, August 28, at the Bluffton Golf Club.

The Pirates won the match by 17 strokes, 171-188.

Pirates Evan Speicher and Nick Lovett tied for match medalist honors as each fired a nine-hole score of 41. Lovett birdied the final hole to force the tie.

Teammate Ethan Fifer was right behind the duo, carding a 42 to finish third in the field of 12 golfers. Grady Coonfare ended up as the fourth Pirate scorer as he registered a 47.

Three events are scheduled in Bluffton on September 3

The Gaden Shartse Monastery monks will visit Bluffton, Findlay and Carey as part of their 2024 National Tour. Tour objectives are to share the monks' Tibetan cultural heritage; chants and rituals for healing; and practices for inner peace and compassion. Also, the tour serves as a fundraising initiative to construct a Khangtsen (dormitory) at Gaden Shartse Monastery.

PANDORA — First National Bank has announced that Lauren Beasley has joined its team as Branch Manager and Consumer Lender at the Pandora office. Beasley will be responsible for establishing and expanding customer relationships for First National Bank in Pandora and surrounding areas.

The Bluffton Icon and Ada Icon will be closed and on pause from Saturday, August 31 to Monday, September 2 for a Labor Day holiday.
