BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School boys basketball team built a huge edge over the middle quarters to blow out non-league visitor Kenton 82-40 on January 3.

The Pirates outscored the Wildcats 48-18 in the second and third periods to pull away and win big.

Bluffton’s Kain Wright tallied a game-high 20 points. Pirate Blake Sommers scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half.

The Pirates improved to 7-1 with their win. Kenton fell to 1-6 after suffering their sixth straight loss.

Guard Marek Donaldson contributed nine of his 11 points in the first half with the aid of two triples. Senior Terron Boblitt netted seven of his 10 markers in the third quarter.

Bluffton led 22-16 after a high-scoring first period. The Pirates stretched the lead to 49-24 at halftime by authoring a 27-8 second stanza. Bluffton canned four triples and five deuces plus five foul shots in the second period outburst.

The Pandora-Gilboa High School boy’s basketball team started the new year off right as they hosted Blanchard Valley Conference foe Vanlue on January 3. It was cold and snowy outside, but the Rockets got hot inside as three players combined to knock down twelve 3-pointers on their way to an easy 68-30 win.

We will have a pre-trip meeting on January 16 at 2 p.m. Trip includes a seven-night cruise on Pride of America, Norwegian Cruise ship and four nights on land. Lima, OH -– Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio, Inc. has issued an open invitation to its Awards & Appreciation Dinner on February 14 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The "Igniting the Path: Illuminating Futures Together" event will be held at Old  Barn Restaurant & Grill.

EMS Chief Jan Basinger provided the following December 2024 EMS Stats: 34 Medical Calls, 30 patients transported, 6 Hospital to Hospital transports, 5 Motor Vehicle Accidents, 8 Fire Calls, 2 Mutual Aid Calls. 55 total calls in December. He also noted that 2024 was a record year with 822 calls for service and 511 patients transported in 2024.

Bluffton High School proudly recognizes Aubrey Reiman as the December 2024 Student of the Month. Aubrey is a junior with a 3.809 GPA and is the daughter of Jennifer and James Rieman of Bluffton. 

Aubrey is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in drama club, choir and show choir. 

She is active in her church youth group and helps to lead children’s church services at Bluffton Community. In addition to her work with the church, Rieman volunteers at the area women’s shelter and is an employee at Bluffton Dari Freeze. In her spare time, she enjoys surrounding herself with family and friends. 

After graduation, Aubrey would like to attend Ohio Northern University majoring in nursing or children’s services. Her strong work ethic and commitment to community service are commendable, and we are proud to honor her as the BHS student of the month for December.
