Robert "Bob" O. Town, 92, passed away April 3, 2025 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Bob was born November 18, 1932 in Argos, Indiana to the late Orval and Gwendolyn (Ransbottom) Town. On October 18, 1951 he married Dorothy Fisher Town who preceded him in death on May 22, 2015.

On Wednesday, April 2, Dustin Ray Bolen of McGuffey was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison, having pleaded guilty to three felony counts including murder. 

The charges were related to the death of his father, Michael Bolen, who was reported missing on March 31, 2024. Dustin was arrested in November 2024 and the father’s body was discovered under a family home in December.

UPDATE WTOL-11 reports that the Putnam county tornado near Dupont on Wednesday, April 2 had a rating of EF-2! Peak winds to 120 mph and a max width of 375 yards.

Putnam County EMA, Putnam County Fire Departments, Putnam County Police Departments, and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office handled multiple calls for service related to the tornado warning issued late evening on 4-2-25.

SHAWNEE – The visiting Bluffton High School boys tennis team edged WBL foe Shawnee 3-2 in a close match featuring three tiebreakers Thursday evening.

The Pirates improved their record to 2-1 with the win.

Bluffton senior Branson Hilty rallied to win his first singles match in a third set tiebreaker 1-6, 6-3, 10-4.

Junior Nick Lovett fell at second singles 6-4, 6-1.

Senior Jack Brauen lost a tough three-set battle at third singles 6-1, 4-6, 10-7.

PANDORA – The Board of Directors of First National Bank has officially named Brendon Matthews as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the bank. Matthews has been serving as President of the bank since May, 2024. He succeeds Todd Mason who is retiring after 22 years at First National Bank and 40 years as a community banker. Mason will remain as a director on the board.
