BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School boys basketball team dominated visiting Toledo Woodward 79-18 in a non-conference mismatch on Saturday, December 14.

The Pirates launched home five triples during the first period to build a whopping 32-10 lead.

Bluffton then piled on with a 23-2 second stanza to create a commanding 55-12 halftime cushion. The Pirates splashed nine three-pointers in the first half.

The Pandora-Gilboa High School boy’s basketball team stretched their winning streak to three games on December 14, as they easily doubled up on Cory-Rawson, winning 63-31 in non-league action. The Hornets (0-5) are still looking for their first win of the young season.

More than 90 high school students competed; Asa Clingerman named to All Tournament Team

Crestview High School took home top honors at the 2024 Northwest Conference Scholastic Bowl Tournament held Friday, December 13, at The Ohio State University at Lima.

Columbus Grove was runner-up in varsity competition. Spencerville won the junior varsity division for the second year in a row and Crestview was runner-up.

The winning varsity team from Crestview included Sam Boroff, Saxton Short, Jacob Pawlick and Noah Mosier. The team finished with a 7-0 record to win the tournament. The runner-up varsity team from Columbus Grove finished with a 6-1 record and included Hannah Cartwright, Ethan McDougle, Kaylin Grohoske, McKayla Ricker, Delaney Wintersteller, Laney Auchmuty, Will Horstman and Simon Zimmerly.

Sommers scores 31

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School boys basketball team hammered visiting Delphos Jefferson 84-50 in their football-delayed season and Northwest Conference opener Friday night.

Blake Sommers tossed in a career-high 31 points to pace the Pirates. He canned seven deuces and splashed five trifectas, plus two foul shots.

Bluffton raced to a 26-6 lead after the first period and never looked back.

Guard Marek Donaldson drained three of his five three-pointers in the first quarter. Sommers tallied 10 early points on two treys and a pair of deuces.

Donaldson contributed 21 markers on the strength of five triples. He also hit all four free throws he attempted.

Bluffton Exempted Village Schools board--Alice Basinger, Brad Dailey, Roni. Kaufman, Wes Klinger and Jeremy Scoles--will meet at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16.

The agenda is attached and includes contracts for athletics, substitute teachers, substitute educational aides and cafeteria workers.

The meeting will include an organizational session for 2025 and establishing the calendar for 2025.
