Gerber wedding photo from 1963

Ralph and Melba Gerber celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Ralph and Melba (Martin) Gerber of Bluffton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2012. They were married by Rev. John D. Zehr at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church in Wakarusa, Ind., on June 3, 1962.

They have three daughters: Dave and Lori (Gerber) Burkholder, Ed and Terri (Gerber) Ward, and Marvin and Kelli (Gerber) Foster. Ralph and Melba have six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Bluffton's Relay for Life is set Friday and Saturday, June 22-23, at Bluffton University's Salzman Stadium.

The event runs from 6 p.m. Friday until noon on Saturday. Specific events include:

Friday:

4:30 p.m. - Survivor's dinner
6:45 p.m. - Pie judging and auction
10 p.m. - Luminaria ceremony

Saturday:

9 a.m. - Cheer camp by Bluffton University cheerleaders
9 a.m. - Relay garage sale

Eric Fulcomer, Bluffton mayor, is the guest speaker at the 11:50 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, meeting of the Bluffton Lions Club.

Friday-Saturday, July 13-14 - WOAL meet at Bluffton

The Bluffton Sardines swim team will hold a registration and information meeting at the Bluffton Pool Shelter house (next to the pool parking lot) on at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 31.

There will be a short parent meeting to answer questions and to talk about the season. A representative from Poco Loco swim shop will be on hand for swim suit try on and purchase.

Practice begins on Monday, June 4.
