Pirate Coonfare 1st team NWC golf

Bluffton High School senior ace Jaden Coonfare was named first team All-Northwest Conference in golf by the league recently.

Coonfare was the number one golfer for the Pirates this season.

Senior Aiden Sponsler was named second team All-NWC. 

Pirate senior teammates Jacob Boisvert and Eli Wenger also made honorable mention all-league.

Brevin Brandt of league champion Leipsic won conference Player of the Year honors.

Viking mentor Kevin Brandt was named NWC Coach of the Year.

Pirate Grandey on All-NWC 2nd volleyball team

Bluffton High School sophomore volleyball player Ayla Grandey was named second team All-Northwest Conference in voting by the league coaches recently.

Grandey led the team in kills to help the Pirates finish 13-10 overall and 4-4 in the NWC.

Sophomore setter Gracie Yarnell and sophomore libero Avery Talavinia were named honorable mention all-league.

Allen East junior hitter Soraya Jackson was tabbed NWC Player of the Year.

4 Pirate boys 1st team All-NWC soccer

Three Bluffton High School seniors and one junior from the league title team earned first team All-Northwest Conference boys soccer honors in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

Seniors Eden Antrim, Justin Good and Nolan Hoffman made first team All-NWC, along with junior Pirate teammate Kyle Basil.

Junior Ben Hartzler made second team all-league, as did seniors Luke Shepherd and Ethan Oglesbee.

Junior Theo Andreas made honorable mention all-league.

Scoles named NWC Player of Year, Mehaffie Coach of the Year

Bluffton High School senior Sami Scoles of league champion Bluffton girls soccer team was voted Northwest Conference Player of the Year in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

Bluffton mentor Jamie Mehaffie was named NWC Coach of the Year after leading the team to a 6-0 league mark and 14-2 overall record.

Senior keeper Julia Mehaffie, senior scorer Allison Diller  and senior Riley Eachus of Bluffton also joined Scoles on the all-league first team.

Sonia Cupples owned Sonia's Hair Stop

Sonia Sue Cupples, 68, passed away October 18, 2022 at her residence in Bluffton. Sonia was born May 28, 1954 in Bluffton to the late Robert and JoAnn (Stonehill) Dillman. On May 5, 1973 she married Jerry Cupples who survives.

Sonia was a 1972 graduate of Bluffton High School and the Ohio State Beauty Academy. She owned and operated Sonia's Hair Stop in Bluffton for twenty years and later retired from Matthew Jordan DDS Office in Bluffton. Sonia was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton. Her greatest hobby was spending time with her grandchildren.

Logan Nussbaum obituary

Goshen, IN–Logan Ian Nussbaum, 18, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022.

He was born November 10, 2003 in Kettering, Ohio to Rick and Aphaphanh (Sengsy) Nussbaum. He lived most of his life in Bluffton, Ohio and moved to Goshen, Indiana in 2018.
