Marcia Forbes 1936-2013

Marcia J. Forbes, 75, died July 9, 2013, at her residence in Bluffton.  She was born March 4, 1936, in Ashley, Ind., to the late Russell and Kathren (Bartels) Wiler. On Aug. 10, 1957, she married Arthur "A.J." Forbes and he died June 4, 2008.

Mrs. Forbes had been a bookkeeper for Lincoln Life and Klink Trucking.  She was a member of the Ashley-Hudson Church of the Nazarene. She was a 1956 graduate of Ashley High School.

Health department looking for smoke-free housing units

The Creating Healthy Communities project of the Allen County Health Department is looking for smoke-free housing units in Allen County.

Food boxes available for families in Pandora

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. 

The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four. In order to pick up a box, you must register by calling 419-384-3038 by 5 p.m. on Monday, July 22. 

Boxes will be available to be picked up on Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Mennonite Church located at 502 East Main Street, Pandora.

2.31 inches of rain in early July - what's this world coming to?

Depending upon which field you were standing in, the rain on your property was either more or less than that recorded by Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

Here's his high and low temperature report and total precipitation reading for the past seven day. We received 2.31 inches of rain. How about you?
