Imagine yourself at the Bluffton High School commencement for the class of 2028. Chances are good to excellent that there will be several girls named Mya and Grace. There will be several boys with middle names of James (we counted 10) and many first names starting with the letter "J." For example, you'll find Jackson, Jacob, Jonah, Julius, Joshua, Jordan and so on.
See for yourself. Here is the list of the names of babies born in the Bluffton Hospital in 2010. Last year there were 127 girls and 121 boys born in Bluffton.
Of the girls Mya (Mya, Myah, Miya, Mia and Mariah) appeared eight times on the list. As middle names Marie appeared 12 times and Grace (and Grayce) nine.
For boys, the spread was mixed, although there were two Jacksons and two Jacobs and lots of Old Testament names. "J" appeared to be the most popular first letter for a boy's name.
